Downloaded Firefox update on 06/18/14 and it doesn't fill the entire laptop screen. All websites are 1/2 of the screen and you can see my wallpaper peeking out from underneath. I'm not that computer savvy so I tried a few common sense fixes to troubleshoot but nothing is solving the problem.

Just for starters - I presume you have re-started Windows and Firefox. Have you tried Safe Mode? Have you tried a different browser?

I haven't had a lot of time to sit at my computer -- tried the above suggestions but still have the same problem. I've used Firefox for a least 6 years and have never had a problem. May switch to Google Chrome at the suggestion of my daughter.

What happened if you tried another browser? Did Chrome do any better?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Thanks all for your help. I ended up resetting Firefox and the problem has been resolved. Have a super day!
