Manage Identities does not align "from" addy with the "sent to" addy when replying

I just installed 24.6 and utilized the "import" from Eudora. Everything seemed to transfer pretty well, but I cannot figure out the "sent from." I have tried in "manage identities" to no avail. The problem is replying to a mail list, and thunderbird wants to insert my dominant addy instead of the address that the original mail was sent to. This poses a problem when the identity has to be subscribed/registered.

It doesn't do it every time, sometimes it inserts the correct reply "from." Cannot make sense of it.

Something to do with the import?

Chosen solution

something to do with where you are in the folder tree.

The default SMTP is used when the account selected is unknown, so if you have a mail account showing and move mails to local folders the SMTP server selected will be the default, where as if you are in the account folder the reply SMTp will be the one for that account. The same goes for identities.

I am fairly sure one of these add-ons will address your needs https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/search/?q=identity&cat=all&appver=24.0&platform=windows
