Download e-mails repeating after deletion

An e-mail with a large attachment received, was downloaded a total of 20 times over a period of 24 hours before it stopped. A month ago a similar e-mail from the same source was downloaded 8 times before it stopped. Prior to this many e-mails are repeatedly downloaded 2 or 3 times after deletion

try disabling email scanning in your anti virus product. Most of these issues are anti virus programs botching their scan and dropping connections to the server inappropriately.
