I am currently running MS Office 2003 with Outlook. When I replace my old computer with a new one, I am thinking about installing a version of MS Office without Outlook, and so would like to experiment with Thunderbird and some other email clients on my old computer before I make the switch. Both computers have Windows 7. Will installing Thunderbird create a conflict with Outlook?

can you? It is the only way to import from outlook.

Will they conflict... most likely. But not how you mean.

Back in the day the settings for outlook would be to remove messages from the server, Thunderbird will import that setting the result is which ever goes on line first will download and delete the pop mail.

The simple answer for the time you run both is disable deletion on the server in outlook before you import and then they will play nice together, except for each wanting to be the default mail client.

Tools menu (alt+T) > Options > advanced > general will tel you turn Thunderbirds quest to be the king of the kids off until such times as your ready to change over finally.
