Gmail won't open in firefox
Just switched to firefox from IE but it won't open my gmail account. Does forefox not work with gmail? How do I fix this or should I try another browser?
Chosen solution
Hmm, cookies. Do you recall customizing how Firefox works with cookies?
Regarding settings:
Our support article has the basic steps for making Firefox as compatible as possible: Websites say cookies are blocked - Unblock them.
Clearing possibly corrupted cookies:
While viewing any page on google.com (search results will work), try either:
- right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
- Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
Regarding Add-ons:
In case one of your extensions is involved, could you test Gmail in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
- "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
- Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run
After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset).
Any difference?

Firefox works with Gmail. Are you getting a particular error message? Blank page??
Some websites may not work correctly if you block information that they expect to receive, such as cookies. If you have modified Firefox's normal cookie settings or are using privacy add-ons that may modify how cookies are handled, those could be a factor.
here is what I get
The page isn't redirecting properly
Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.
This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies.

I did not change a thing on firefox.....will try to work thru what is in your message....fingers crossed. If it does not work are there other browsers you would recommend?
Internet Explorer 11 and Google Chrome are decent browsers. However, I only use them if Firefox isn't working on a site, so it's hard for me to compare.
removing the cookies fixed it,,,,,thx
