New Thunderbird lost my encryption setup

Thunderbird was working fine, encrypting and decrypting regularly. An update must've happened (I don't recall if this is what marked the change) and I started to see "This message will be unsigned and unencrypted." on the Enigmail strip at the top. It seems to have lost my working key setup.

Moreover, when I go to Account Setting > Security > View Certificates > Import

It fails to accept the relevant .asc file which had worked before. It demands PKCS12 files, of which I have none!

GPG tools on my Mac continues to work fine with the same key.

Can you help please?

This probably was the Enigmail update to version 1.8.1. Is this what you have?

What exactly prevents you from sending encrypted messages? Can you read encrypted messages sent to you?

It was fine actually. The UI changed with an upgrade and I was in a hurry so didn't see that the screenshot buttons were buttons and was left in the above quandary when I tried to search for answers. All good now though.

Thanks for your time, it's appreaciated!
