Hello, I changed password in Microsoft yesterday and now TB is asking me to type the password in when I open it to read my emails, it's a very long complicated password and I do not remember it by heart, and why does it keeps asking to type the password once I typed it in, that is every single time I open TB for my mail. Can you help me with this, Thank you very much for your time.

Is there not a checkbox to make Thunderbird store it?

It may also help to go to Tools|Options|Security|Passwords>Saved Passwords and remove all mention of the old retired password. If you have both new and old passwords stored Thunderbird may not know which to use so asks you for it.

The old password was there, and I Edited it to the new one, I closed TB and restarted my pc. I opened TB and it asked me again to add the Hotmail password. I removed the Hotmail password in the Tools|Options|Security|Passwords>Saved Passwords I restarted my pc and it's still asking me add the password, I typed in the new password, I then checked if the new password was in the Tools... and it., but TB still asks me to enter the Hotmail password. I don't know what to do now. In the list in the Tools.... there is the password of my main email account and the Hotmail. I don't know if I should remove all the password because I don't want to ruin receiving my emails in TB. Hope you can help me with this. Thanks for your time.

There once was an issue with Hotmail/live/outlook passwords that were longer than 16 characters. I don't know if that's still the case, but you mentioned your password was 'long'.

The Hotmail password is 16 characters long, I just counted it. But now TB asks to fill in the twc (my main email account) password, not the Hotmail one! I have twc and Hotmail accounts. I typed in the twc and the box comes up with Retry, Add password, Cancel. I typed it in, the box came back and I clicked Retry two times and it stopped coming up. I also tried earlier by ticking the little box to use the Password Manager and that little box still comes up to fill the password, it did not ask me to fill the Hotmail now, just the twc. I have no idea why it suddenly started to do that, other than I changed two characters in my Hotmail password, it's the same password except two characters were changed, so this would not be the cause of having a long password since it's the same length as the old one! Thanks for your time.

given I have seen report today from two road runner users still with location based RR server names. My guess is TWC have retired those server names. Might be time to check your server settings.

No need to the steps Matt, I opened the TB this morning and the password box popped up, typed in for both email addresses and ticked the Let Password Manager remember... and ticked OK and it worked this time.

I just opened TB and the box did not popped up, so I think it's fixed for good.

Thank you everyone who helped me and FAST replies I may add, I truly appreciated all you time and efforts to solve TB issue I had.
