Why is Firefox upgrade stuck at 90% for 1+ hour

I'm not sure what version of Firefox I was running (can't check since the upgrade is frozen). Probably one back from the current version.

I could not get a YouTube video to play, so I restarted browser. Now it has been upgrading for an hour, but the progress bar will not move beyond (approx) 90%.

Should I force quit the updater?

(I'm running Firefox on Macos 10.12.6)

Chosen solution

Never mind. I stopped the installer, rebooted, and did a clean install (after backing up a bunch of stuff from profiles).

Luckily, Firefox referred back my profile, so I did not appear to lose anything.
