I set up Google calendar in Lightning exactly according to these instructions: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/using-lightning-google-calendar

Using Thunderbird 60.6.1 which is the last one supporting the google calendar provider plugin referenced in the above document.

When I receive any calendar invite, I get a blue bar over the preview pane: "No writable calendars are configured for invitations, please check the calendar properties." The "read-only" toggle in my calendar is off, and I am able to create and delete appointments normally.

Please try this: 'Menu icon' > 'Options' > 'Advanced' > 'General' tab Click on 'Config Editor' (Button)

  • In top search type: google.e
  • locate the line: calendar.google.enableEmailInvitations

If Value is 'False':

  • double click on that line to toggle the Value to 'True'
  • close window - top right x
  • click on 'OK'
  • Go to the calendar you want to use with your email, right click it and select "Properties"
  • re: "Email" field - Select account that you want to process invites
  • Click on 'OK'

Go to an email invitation and you should now see the accept and decline buttons.
