Selecting File SEND LINK creates havoc with tabs

When I click on FILE, from Firefox menu, and select SEND LINK, the browser begins flashing as hundreds of tabs race across the screen in rotation.

This happened

Every time Firefox opened

You don't have Firefox selected for "mailto", do you?

No, Thunderbird is the default. I also tried it with TB open, and it with it closed, no difference. Cannot use Firefox to send a link on Windows 7.
