I would like help to close 3 tabs that refuse to close.
Very unpleasant sites have been opened on my computer.
I shut the computer down but every time I open firefox again they appear and will not allow me to close them.
When I attempt to close the tabs or close the window, a pop up box appears and asks if I am sure I want navigate away. I do click escape and the pop up goes away but the nasty site just remains. Please help me to remove this awful site.

Try temporarily disabling JavaScript. In the Tools menu select Options to open the Options Window. Go to the Content panel and de-select the "Enable JavaScript" setting. Then see if you can close the tabs. You can re-enable JavaScript afterwards.

Also do a malware check with a few malware scan programs.
You need to use all programs because each detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database before doing a scan.
