I have successfullyt installed Firefix 3.6 on my Windows 7 Home premium Dell Inspiron 1540. When I choose File:Import and follow the instructions in the boxes. a message comes up that says Forefox ha stopped working. When I click OK (the only option) I then getr a dialog that forces FCirefox to close. How is this avoided?

  • Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html): File > Import and Export
  • Import the HTML file in Firefox: Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import HTML: From File

Thanks but this is not the issue. I follow the instructions precisely and when I get to the last screen and hit the OK button, a dialog comes up that says "Firefox has stopped working" when I hit OK then Firefox simply shuts down. Is there some firewall issue? I have CA Internet Security Suite for Windows 7.

Are you using File > Import in the main browser window or Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks > Import & Backup ?

This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
