I used to hover cursor over hyperlinks for summaries to appear; now cursor becomes a finger with a small icon for a written page; how do I get summaries back?

I downloaded Firefox updates and now when I hover over a hyperlink I no longer get summaries to appear -- the cursor changes from an arrow into a hand with a finger with a small symbol (like a written page) attached. How do I again engage the "pop-up summary" feature of Firefox? I use Windows 7 (if that matters).

Why don't I have this feature? Is it possible that you're using an add-on that generates the preview? Or is this for one specific site?

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Try to disable hardware acceleration.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
