Crash Report:

https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/bp-a97ab4a4-13be-4041-af12-12da02120711

Firefox 14 keeps crashing on random sites, even on the Firefox help pages:

http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-crashes-troubleshoot-prevent-and-get-help

Tried in safe mode with add-ons turned off and still crashes. Updated flash player and adobe reader and all add-ons up to date too.

Any have any idea why this is happening?

Thanks in advance for any help given.

I am unable to see your CrashReport at the moment.

Note there is a posibility that FlashPlayer 11.3 will cause problems or Crashes.

Please post another couple of Crash IDs or Crash report Links (as you did above,) maybe I will be able to get information from them.

It could be worth trying the Firefox reset feature it may just help

Hi,

This is the only other crash report which has been submitted:

https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/bp-bfb4bafd-2714-47f3-a258-7c0a22120711

Thanks

(edited: I have also tried the Firefox restart but it made no difference. Also, is that the latest version of flash player that causes the bugs? I'm not sure if it is flash as even on sites without any flash movies on them, the browser still crashes).

From the reports I can now access, it appears FlashPlayer is involved in at least some of your crashes. I suggest

  1. as an initial troubleshooting step you create a new profile by using the Reset feature
  2. ensure FlashPlayer is not enabled
  3. try browsing and if you get any crashes please again paste a couple of the CrashIDs/Links into your next message.

If your problems are solved when FlashPlayer is put out of use my suggestion for a temporary workaround, until developers come up with a more permanent fix is to uninstall Flash 11.3 using the Adobe uninstaller, and reinstall the secure but older Flash 10.3 or the less secure Flash 11.2 by following the detailed instructions from

  • flash 11.3 crashes
  • NOTE
    • the information is subject to revision and change, revisit the link for any updates
    • the Adobe unintaller may uninstall more than is expected, you may need to check Windows & IE may need further installs after this.

Richard,

Please ask your own question and start a new thread using /questions/new

If you are needing to re-install Firefox do NOT use any options from the OS or Firefox that mentions removing personal information.Mention in this current thread https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/931921 when you have asked a new question so that we may look for it.

I downloaded the 14.0.1 from the website. It kept crashing.

I restarted in safe mode. This initially did not work until I rebooted my win7 laptop. At which stage firefox started in safe mode. I then restarted firefox and all was ok.

I am truly exasperated with these crashes, which now happen twice or three times per session (I am using a Vaio laptop with the latest NVIDIA driver for my 230M chipset).

This is how I have proceeded, so far with no effect.

1) I altered the Nvidia Power Management setting to 'Prefer Maximum Performance', as advised on other threads. No change. 2) I deleted my entire profile (including settings) and reinstalled FF14. No change. 3) I deleted FF14 and re-installed FF13. No change. 4) My next step will be to repeat step 2 for FF13.

This is even worse than the video problems with Flash a month or two ago. I am seriously considering junking Firefox after many years of happy travelling. The thought of going over to Chrome fills me with horror, but it may be the only solution.

Hi allexwent,

Please start your own thread by asking a question using the link /questions/new Mention in this thread after you do so.
Then

  1. reset firefox 14
  2. run in Firefox's safe mode (use the menu option or hold the shift key on starting )
  3. leave all plugins disabled, do not use FlashPlayer
  4. use about:crashes and copy and paste a couple of recent Crash IDs into your next post

EVERYONE

By all means read tips solutions and links in this thread, and post solutions if you find them BUT if you have your own problem please start your own thread.

What's the use of everyone posting every single problem separately when it's obvious there are some serious flaws with this version of FF, as well as it's interaction with Flash? Will there be better answers, if there are 80 or more separate threads? I don't get this kind of advice, really....

I feel your pain Alexwent, I've been incredibly frustrated with this mess of a version, and am about to chuck FF and go back to Safari...

.

Yes you will* get better answers !

There were known problems after a new security feature was added to FlashPlayer 11.3 Developers from Flash, RealPlayer and Firefox have been working on the problems. There have been new releases of some of the software, and interactions differ with the Operating System and the specific software used, even which software uninstaller and installer is used.

Some of these problems may not yet be solved, but workarounds may be possible.

* You certainly will do best not posting in someone else's general thread with multiple questions.
