Hi Minni, I haven't used MozBackup so I don't have a recommendation on it one way or the other.

If you just want to back up your bookmarks, copy the bookmarkbackups folder. This will give you several days to work with in case the latest one turns out to have a problem.

If you want both bookmarks and history, copy the places.sqlite file as well.

explanation: Having finally risked Reset (despite the lack of assurance by FF that Reset indeed keeps the exact order of favicons toolbar), I now know that Reset does save the exact order of same. The only way I found out, was by having risked it, and not because that info was made available via all sorts of keyword searches. I can't understand why i'm the only one with these questions.

Hi Minni, I was thinking that you would copy the files and folders to an external drive using drag and drop. You also can use right-click > Copy on selected files in the source folder and then right-click > Paste in the destination folder.

what i meant was, where do i find all those to copy? Like, are they nested inside a zillion root files?

Basically, ...RESET FF is great, because it lets you keep stuff in the exact order you placed them (even though it isn't so great that that info isn't made available to newbs.

But RESET would be greater, if it would be called RESET+BACKUP. Whereupon, at end of RESET, it would:

bring up windows containing ...plaqlite & favicon folders/files with a message displaying, stating:

if you'd like to back up these folders/files, connect your external media now, and then copy/paste them onto your media

Will it ever happen? I doubt it, because i see people don't seem to consider it important, except for me.

Hi Minni, you should hardly ever need to use the Reset feature; when you do, it moves your entire old profile folder to the desktop under the name Old Firefox Data.

To make your own copy of the profile folder without having to start from scratch on add-ons and customization, simply copy the entire profile folder to a safe location. Strictly speaking, there's a lot in there you could live without, but the time required to pick and choose might not be worth it.

OK, so in other words, are you saying the quickest way to backup Firefox (whenever i remember to do so) is to RESET (via Tools), and then copy/paste the auto-generated OldFirefoxData Folder from my Desktop to my backup media?

Hi Minni, no, I recommend using the Reset feature ONLY when you have a severe problem with Firefox that can't be resolved with simple troubleshooting.

You can copy your currently active settings folder (profile folder) from its normal location. To learn the location use:

Help > Troubleshooting Information > "Show Folder" button

OK, well it looks like it's back to Square One. Anyway, thanks for your responses, and I hope that one day, if by some miracle other people prefer a simpler way, FF will come thru.
