I'd like simple access for Yahoo and Facebook with windows 7, but I'm constantly interrupted with messages that my firefox 24 is outdated, Java is not current, or flash player is outdated or not installed. If I try to update, I find firefox is current, and other programs-add-ons are current or they hang without completing the update.

You can ignore pop-up and alerts on web pages that you need to update as these will only give you malware.

You can check in "Help > About" or visit the Mozilla website to check if you are running the latest Firefox version.
