I have English and Russian keyboards on 8.1 64 bit system. Messages sent by Thunderbird in Russian come up as Russian in subject line but not in the body of the message, where it all looks like ??. I tried changing coding to all Russian option in the menu but it does not help.

Than you for the suggestion. Unfortunately, this did not help on this computer: HP Envy 23, 8.1 system, 64-bit, TWcny RoadRunner mail server. The other computer with system 7 and google mail server has no such issue. Unicode UTF-8 allows for correct characters in Thurderbird on it.
