Hi!

Firefox has started to crash each time it starts up and it it goes right to the crash report window. It DOES work in safe mode, however.

I've tried resetting the settings of the software and I've also reinstalled it several times, including removing the remaining Mozilla folders under c://ProgramData, C://Program (x86) and the mozilla-related folders in c:\\users\...\AppData\ (Local and Roaming)).

I noticed that my version of Flash was in need of an update, but the problem remained. Interestingly, it seemed that after the update, there were actually TWO installations of the Flash plugin at the same time. (Version 16.0.0.305 and 17.0.0.134 respectively.) I also tried to disable these two, but with Little results. Additionally, the VLC and Adobe reader plugins were in need of updates. The Adobe update went okay, but since I couldn't find any ways to update the VLC plugin i simply disabled it. Still no result.

Other things that might be of interest for you is that the crashes started to occur after I tried to host a session of the game "Knights and Merchants" over TCP/IP, which didn't work out either.

I've also recently changed my antivirus software from Avira to AVG (both of them are the freeware versions), since Avira has stopped working. (It seems like there isn't a free version of it anymore when you check the website.)

I've got Firefox v. 37.0.1 and Windows 7 (64-bit).

The crash report ID is: bp-462e19a9-22e7-4be1-825a-5eabf2150408

Thanks a lot for your help!

Sincerely

Karl Victorin

Hello Karl, did you try to disable hardware acceleration ?

try the next,

with closed firefox type the next command firefox -preferences in your Command Prompt, then you can see firefox Options window, click the Advanced panel and UNcheck the Use hardware acceleration where available in Browsing area > click ok, and now open firefox again.....any luck ?

if the above works, then to be able to use hardware acceleration again without crashes probably you have to upgrade your graphics drivers

thank you
