Deleted emails do not go into deleted folder

I have three email accounts, all with the exact same settings in Thunderbird but two of them do weird stuff. My main account, when I delete an email it goes into the delete folder, as it should. The other two accounts though, the deleted emails just disappear, never to be seen again. I've used Thunderbird for several years and know my way around it but this has me stumped :/ I need to be able to refer back to deleted emails on occasion.

usually an IMAP folder name issue.

Right click the account in the folder pane and select subscribe. is there another deleted folder there? perhaps you have a trash and a deleted.

Is the account with Google? If so in the server setting select the advanced button and set the IMAP server directory to [Gmail]
