Hi.

So, ever since I installed a fresh install of firefox (updated to latest version) on a brand new computer with a fresh install of Win10, firefox slows down, hangs and crashes. It uses just about any processor power it can find, as well as most available memory. It dwarfs all other programs in this (even big spenders like corel or photoshop).

I usually run a normal window, and a private window, each with a few tabs, but this doesn't seem to matter. Happens with a single window and single tab, or 50 tabs, regardless.

This happens periodically, 10+ times in an 8 hour work day, and is really bothering my work. (The program crashed several times while writing this report alone - its annoying).

I noticed that I can prevent a crash if I restart firefox myself when it slows down, via task manager (crash it manually so as to keep my tabs). If I do nothing, it's bad performance escalates from slow to crash fairly quickly. Sometimes it just crashes outright, even if left unattended. (like when I go to lunch, the only thing that's active is a radio stream, I come back and it has crashed)

Most of my addons and plugins, like the Adobe PDF plugin, are all set to ask to activate.

Note that its a FRESH install of firefox and win 10, on a brand new computer. Everything else on the computer works fine.

Also, note that I use firefox on my cellphone and on my home computer, all the latest version, and they all work fine.. on Win7.

Please help, this is really interfering with my job.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Is the problem still there?

While still in Safe Mode,

In the address bar, type about:crashes<enter>. Note: If any reports do not have BP in front of the numbers/letters, click it to Submit them.

The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

Using your mouse, mark the most resent 7 - 10 crash reports, and copy them. Now go to the reply box below and paste them in.

(Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)

If you can't get Firefox to open, you will have to do this the hard way. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/mozillacrashreporter Open the file browser / explorer on your computer. Note: You may have to enable Show Hidden Folders / Files. Enter this in the address bar;

Windows: %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\submitted Win 7/Vista: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\submitted Win XP/2000: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\submitted

Mac OS: /Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Crash Reports/submitted Linux: /home/<username>/.mozilla/firefox/Crash Reports/submitted

Copy the last 5-7 Recent File Names in the folder. Post the information in the reply box below.
