Tabs and Pins not sticking
Using Firefox v59.0 (64-bit). Pinned tabs no longer sticky. Regular tabs no longer sticky, even though I've selected "Show your windows and tabs from last time." When I close Firefox, and then re-open Firefox, all pins and tabs are gone. Re-opening Firefox opens with a single tab. What has happened?

More information. After another restart, I see that two commands are now "grayed out" and unavailable for selection. They are default OFF and not selectable (grayed out).
1.) "Remember Logins and Passwords for Websites" 2.) "Show your Windows and Tabs from Last Time"
What on earth is going on with Firefox? Two of my most important and most-used features are "grayed out" and not selectable. WTF?
Sorry, it's just too much. I've had too much heartache since the "new improved" Firefox. I've reverted back to v56.0.2 and everything is better and working correctly. Let me know when you get stable again, and when all my old favorite add-on's work again.
With FF57+ unless the addons/extensions are verified to work they will be disabled or blocked from working. This isn't a FF issue but the Addon creator to fix and update.
Thanks. Another good reason to stick with v56.0.2 until things become stable again.
Hi, sorry no one got back to you with a reasonable answer.
Can say for sure that about 6 out of 10 add-ons are around to update to or migrate to something similar. It will not get closer than this as Mozilla has made rules to protect itself from bad add-ons that made it crash. Below finds 57+ Compatible if running 57+ https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/extensions/

Note not all code in one place.
You will be forced to update, fyi. So best to make a backup as is not compatible and keep doing so :
- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles
The issue I would think is possibly updating as your still carrying years of Netscape code around. In future back up and try a install with a Full Version installer
In case you use "Clear history when Firefox closes".
- do not clear the Browsing History
- Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history": [X] "Clear history when Firefox closes" -> Settings
- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/delete-browsing-search-download-history-firefox
- clearing "Site Preferences" clears exceptions for Cookies, images, pop-up windows, and software installation and exception for password and other website specific data
- clearing "cookies" will remove all selected Cookies including Cookies with an "Allow" exception you may want to keep
Also make sure you do not use Private Browsing mode.
Wow, great answers. Thanks both.
I guess I'm a "power user" that needs a stable repeatable browser that can maintain 150+ open tabs and pins (prefer multi-row) from session to session. Version 56 with Session Manager and Tab Mix Plus does this reliably. Firefox Quantum doesn't seem to offer multi-row tabs, and clearly is not yet reliable for saving tabs from session to session.
It's disturbing to hear that upgrades will be automatic. Really, version 56 is everything I need, so maybe Mozilla should re-think this policy. Some people are still using Windows XP for stability and/or compatibility reasons. It's sort of like that.
Tks again.
