No matter what I do, HD doesn't save my store location but sets it to somewhere else.
It used to work, it stopped working a couple of months ago. I have all HD cookies saved and not deleted when I delete cookies. I've added https:/homedepot to my saved cookies and site data on my browser, Mozilla Firefox. I cleared Mozilla cache, history, and cookies and reset the store location to the correct one. HD is "allowed" to see my location in Firefox. Still it reverts to a different store (the same one each time). How do I keep the RIGHT store saved?

Cookies are where your website settings are stored.
How are you deleting the cookies? Note: You don't really need to remove the cookies.
If clearing cookies didn't help then It is possible that the cookies.sqlite file in the Firefox profile folder that stores the cookies got corrupted.
- rename/remove cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and if present delete cookies.sqlite-shm and cookies.sqlite-wal in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed in case cookies.sqlite got corrupted.
You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
- Help -> Troubleshooting Information -> Profile Directory:
Windows: Show Folder; Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History -> Show All History" or "View -> Sidebar -> History").
Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from this domain like history and cookies and passwords and exceptions and cache, so be cautious. If you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.
You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of involved files.
If you revisit a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.
Thanks. HD is the only site I have this issue with. I use CCleaner to delete history and cookies, with the ones I need saved. I've repeatedly deleted ALL HD cookies, there is nothing in FF history to forget (though I do have some bookmarked product pages which don't show up in history), nothing under profile. Even when I open the HD store near me from google, it still opens showing the other store, with an option to "go" to the one I want, it doesn't go there automatically. I deleted allow to save location, I've deleted everything! I've had to re-log into my other sites, but HD still keeps coming up as the wrong store.
I never had this problem until a couple of months ago. I may just have to live with it.
Hi VLVL, when I visit the Home Depot site in a test profile (default cookie settings), the site sets a cookie named
THD_PERSIST
After a few moments, this cookie is assigned a location value based on my IP address, and the location permission request drops down. If I approve the request, the cookie is updated to a new location that seems to be based on my actual zip code.
This cookie is set to last (according to the Storage Inspector tool):
Expires:"Mon, 06 Jul 2020 16:23:26 GMT"
However, if I exit Firefox and then start back up and return to the site, the cookie changes to the "guessed" value again instead of the previously stored value. Hmm.
After closing Firefox again, I used a SQLite database viewing tool to check the contents of Firefox's cookies.sqlite database from the test profile.
Site: https://inloop.github.io/sqlite-viewer/ Query: SELECT * FROM 'moz_cookies' WHERE name LIKE 'THD_%'
It shows the closer store. So the cookie is stored properly. I restarted that test profile, and before visiting the Home Depot site, I reloaded the viewer and checked the database again. Closer store still listed.
So for some reason the site doesn't use the value it saved before and instead starts the location checking process again. I don't know why...

Thanks jscher for trying and validating the problem. The location stays for a short amount of time if I leave the site and go back, then after a longer time reverts to the unwanted store next time I open it regardless of my location. I suspect it's a HD issue, not a FF one. They haven't responded to my query. I'm giving up for now at least but appreciate the efforts the three of you made.
Just heard from Home Depot: "We are having our IT techs look into our system to see why the stores are not saving. We have been hearing about this matter, and are in the works of fixing the problem."
Thank you all for your input. I am sending HD a link to this page and your replies.
Keep us posted.
