Actually I was hosting my mail on hostgator as a hosting provider and when I transfered to Amazon aws, all what I did is changing the IMAP & STMP servers to aws then it removes all the old mails and replaced with new inbox contains only what received in aws work mail. Thanks alot for considering

This is exactly the expected behavior and how IMAP works.

What you should have done:

  • create a new IMAP account for AWS
  • transfer your existing messages from Hostgator to AWS
  • delete the old Hostgator account

If the Hostgator account still works you can try to set up the account again in Thunderbird, and pull your messages from the Hostgator server. https://support.mozilla.org/kb/automatic-account-configuration

Actually the hostgator account is not working now however all old mails should be downloaded locally for office use So how to pull them from local drive and work on the same mail account but with new settings

all old mails should be downloaded locally for office use

Please explain in more detail what that means.

Ok I want to know how to import the mails from the local files, and how to import on the same modified account

Let me rephrase the question. What local files do you have and where on your computer? Is it an offline copy Thunderbird created while the Hostgator account was still active? Did you manually backup your Hostgator messages? If so, how, and which format is the backup?

Actually this is my question I already set to download all the messages on my computer so how to get it back and import them

This is my last attempt. What did you do 'to download all the messages on your computer'?

Locate your Thunderbird profile folder and open it with Windows Explorer. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-thunderbird-stores-user-data#w_how-to-find-your-profile

There is a folder ImapMail. Underneath should be two folders, one presumably with 'hostgator' in the folder name. Please confirm.

If there is no such folder, what folders are there anyway?
