When I start Firefox it makes upto 15 https:// connections to cloudfront.net and something else. I altered the about:config and did this as shown in another post, but to no avail browser.selfsupport.url. double-click it and change its value to a blank string Here is a sreen grab of the connections I get on start-up, sometimes it takes about 5 mins before I can use the internet. (I have almsot the slowest connection in the UK, at 0.03 MB/sec, 34kbps), so this would only slow down a fast connection for a matter of seconds. I live high in the mountains with no wi-fi and only an old copper phone line to carry my signal.

Firefox can setup connections to some servers on startup, but that shouldn't lock Firefox for that long (i.e. these should run in the background).

Did you make sure that your security software isn't involved in causing the lock ups ?

This was a cope out by who-ever wrote this measage back.

This is a known fault by firefox recently, so how do i cure it, or is there no cure and a simple case of like it or get stuffed, as this is what tons of websites are now telling me about firefox and its multithread debacle.

I used the about:config to make the auto URL's stop, but next day back to square one. No sugestions from you lot, only true and honest answers to this problem please. If you do NOT know, then do not leave a comment suggesting this and that. It is NOT anything to do with my security or OS, this is a simple firefox problem ONLY.

You can check the about:networking page to see what connection have been made to see if you can figure out what causes them.

You can open "about:" pages via the location/address bar

  • "about:" is a protocol to access special pages
