Microsoft download ad banner in Firefox
I keep getting a Microsoft Edge download banner when I visit websites using Firefox as my browser. I have selected Firefox as my default browser in the Default Apps settings. I have installed an ad blocker, and turned off every notification switch I can find in Windows settings. I have taken ownership and changed permissions on every Microsoft Edge folder and file on my laptop. Then I deleted them all. I edited the registry to prevent Microsoft Edge from being downloaded or running at start up. I installed Winaero Tweaker and selected the "stop all ads in Windows 10." I still get the banner. Is there any way to turn this off?

Unfortunately, since Bing is a Microsoft-owned search engine, they have been harassing users to change to their browser. Most ad blocking programs will not try it as an advertisement, so it doesn't usually get blocked.
I set my ad-blocker to block that.
It doesn't really matter what website I visit, the Microsoft Edge download ad banner is on the screen, covering content. There's 2 options to click on in that banner. You can download Edge, or you can select "maybe later." When I select the maybe later option, the banner disappears. If I type in a new web address in the window and go to another website, the banner is right back again. I click on the maybe later option and the banner disappears. If I use the back button to return to the previous website, the banner is there again. I click on the maybe later option and the banner disappears. Then I click on the forward button to return to the other website, and there's the banner again. It's world wide, not just on websites that are owned by Microsoft. Shows up on websites in Europe, Japan, Australia, etc.
I posted on here to see if anyone else had this issue and EXACTLY HOW they solved it.
FredMcD - I'm happy that YOU were able to install an ad blocker that solved the problem for YOU. Now, how do I solve the problem for ME? What ad blocker did you install? Did it come default with the ability to block the Microsoft Edge download ad banner in Firefox? Or did you need to configure in the settings of the app to stop the banner? If so, what switches, in what category did you change or set to accomplish this?

This should remove many ads. You can also teach it to remove things you don't want.
CONTACT MICROSOFT. After purchasing a computer with Windows 10 and an Office 365 "trial" (that would not go away after I installed my NON-cloud based Office suite), I contacted Microsoft via my online account at their website. They actually emailed me AND called in a TIMELY FASHION!
I was able to with to the Microsoft Tech Support as I watched her remotely REMOVE all of the "trial" software that was invading my 365-day life. She was very patient with my impatience.
The Microsoft Tech Support did everything they could to fix their part of the problem, including placing the updated version of my software on my Microsoft account (which I had purchased a couple years ago and had installed on my new PC). After 365 was removed, I removed all the desktop and toolbar icons for the Windows programs that keep trying to take over my choices. I set all of my computer program DEFAULTS to NOT include any of the programs that the Big 5 keeps tweaking, for corporate gain, to stealthily take over my life via use of my personal computer. I am not a robot. ;)
This is not a problem with software installed on your computer, but a problem with websites that detect you use Firefox and then add this banner via JavaScript to the web page.
I would personally check an intrusive banner in the Inspector and delete this node from the DOM. If it is on a page I visit frequently then I add a rule to userContent.css via a @-moz-document domain(xxx) {selector {display:none !important;}} rule to hide this element.
