When I am in Thunderbird's troubleshoot mode, passwords are saved correctly, and as long as I stay in troubleshoot mode, all Thunderbird functions work with all my accounts. Two are POP3 accounts with Comcast, and one is an IMAP account with my business. The IMAP account requires an OAuth2 authentication method, the POP3 accounts normal password authentication.

When I return to normal Thunderbird mode, I am asked and can enter the correct passwords, but they do not get stored, as evident in the Saved Password list. This is true for both the IMAP OAuth2 as well as the POP3 accounts. When I switch to troubleshoot mode, everything works and is stored correctly, including SMTP send functions for all accounts.

I have already tried the recommended erase files suggestions, (cert9.db, key4.db, pkcs11.txt, etc. but that does not help. This lack of storage is not due to a file cleanup function in Windows. The entered passwords are not being stored.

There are no add-ons or other items associated with Thunderbird, ver 91.6.

System is windows 11 Enterprise, latest version.

Is there a file named secmod.db in the profile folder? If so, rename or delete it, with TB closed, then see if passwords are stored in normal mode.
