Firefox for iOS keeps repetitively crashing on my iPhone
Good afternoon, Today 11/10/2022, every time I have opened Firefox on my iPhone 12 Pro Max it crashes. So much so I have deleted and reinstalled the app 4 or 5 times and every time after I sign in and sync it starts again. My iPhone is up to date with iOS 16. I don’t know what happened or why this keeps happening. Please help?

For me, following the advice in the article Clear browsing history in Firefox for iOS resolved similar issues. Others have reported less luck, but you may like to see how you go. If you'd rather not delete all your history, you may wish to try first just selecting "Cache", since this should not delete the history of sites you've visited (just their content). If that doesn't work (or you don't care about keeping your browsing history), select everything bar Downloaded Files.
Let us know how you go.
Damon, Thank you for your reply. I have cleared all history on my phone as well as on my computer, and it still repetitively crashes on my phone. I finally just got frustrated with it and removed the app off the phone. I will reinstall at later date and give it a go again. At least it works great on my computer still.
Hi
I am sorry to hear that Firefox for iOS is crashing. I hope that we can help resolve this for you.
As a first step, close down many of the tabs that you have open to as few as possible. Does this help reduce the incidence of a crash?
If this does not help, open the iOS Settings app, find Firefox and select Clear History and Website Data. Does this help?
Failing that, we will need to look into this in more detail with some logs from inside your copy of Firefox for iOS:
- Launch Firefox.
- Open Settings.
- Scroll down to Version and tap it several times.
- Scroll down and hit "Debug: copy log files to app container". This triggers the logs to be saved into the Documents folder.
- Open the Files App on your iOS device and navigate to Fennec > Logs. You can see the different logs files here, which you can export using the share menu from Apple to a desktop computer.
- Open the file and replace any email address with XXXXXXXXX - and keep a copy of this report.
- Copy and past the full report into https://paste.mozilla.org/, setting the two options at the top to Plain Text and Expire in one week.
- Select Paste Snippet on the right hand side, then copy and past the link into a reply to this thread.
I hope that this helps.
