To get the sync data back you need to login back to the firefox account on the device that contained the data in order to properly update the sync data. Anything connected to it will delete when password is changed.

Hi,

I'm sorry to hear about the hard disk failure on your laptop. If you're unable to access your old Firefox profile after resetting your password, there are a few steps you can take to try and recover it.

Locate your old Firefox profile folder: Your old profile folder may still exist on your computer. By default, it is located in the following directories:

Windows: C:\Users<your_username>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ macOS: /Users/<your_username>/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/ Linux: /home/<your_username>/.mozilla/firefox/ Copy the contents of your old profile folder: Once you've located your old profile folder, copy all its contents to a safe location on your new laptop.

Replace the profile folder on your new laptop: Close Firefox completely and navigate to your new profile folder. It should be located in the same directory paths mentioned above. Replace the contents of the new profile folder with the copied contents of your old profile.

Start Firefox and check your profile: Launch Firefox, and it should now be using your old profile with your previous bookmarks, history, extensions, and other settings.

Please note that these steps may not always work, especially if the old profile folder was not backed up or if it was corrupted. However, it's worth giving it a try to see if you can recover your old profile.

I hope this helps! If you have any further questions or need assistance, please let me know.

Best regards, Firefox Support Volunteer

I'm afraid that your data stored on the Sync server has been purged by using the password reset.

Is that hard drive completely dead or is there still some readable data if you connect it to the new laptop via a USB enclosure?

Resetting the password for the Firefox Account because you do not remember the password will remove all data stored on the Sync server because this password is used to encrypt your data before it is uploaded to the Sync server and only this password or a possible recovery key can decrypt this data.

Thanks a lot for answering. Here the problem is my old hard-disk is not usable. Hence there is no way for me to copy the profile. Actually I was not aware about the risk of losing the data.

Can we get any help from Firefox team to share my old profile or like the current profile with the old data.

Please recommend if you could think of any other options.
