I copied my bookmark file, before reinstalling all my software, how do i "copy" my old bookmark file back into firefox?

I copied the json file containing my previous bookmarks, as I needed to reinstall on a new hard drive. My system is now reinstalled and I really need to be able to copy the json file over the one that exists now. How do I go about this?

I searched through Firefox help to get the location of the json file, to copy and save it. Do I dave to delete all the bookmarks in the current folder first?
