Firefox doesn't detect that it is installed...?

I can't download any add-ons because it says I don't have firefox installed.

When I click 'download now' it says: "To install this add-on and thousands more, get Firefox, a free and open web browser from Mozilla. Learn more about Firefox or download anyway"

If I click 'download anyway' I can't figure out how to use/open it with firefox.

I just uninstalled and reinstalled firefox 3.6 and it's still not working :(
