In Firefox 3, I could type something like "panda political science" into my address bar and the browser would direct me either to a web-page about panda political science or to a Google search page for links related to panda political science.

In Firefox 4 I instead get a dialog box saying: "The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded."

I want this feature back. I have done as instructed to do here. I have checked my configuration settings, and have found that keyword.enabled is set to true. And yet, this feature still does not work.

I have a potential solution!
Go to about:config.
Change keyword.url to http://www.google.com/search?btnI=I%27m+Feeling+Lucky&q=
And you're done!

Use this http://www.google.com/#hl=en&source=hp&q=

It will actually do a google search instead of an "I'm feeling Lucky" search.

So go to about:config look up keyword.url double click it and then copy & paste http://www.google.com/#hl=en&source=hp&q= and you're all set!
