New tab button doesn't open up new tabs, help please?

When trying to click the new tab button that lies beside your last open tab, the button highlights and acts like it's working, then when clicked nothing happens.

This issue can be caused by the Ask.com toolbar (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions)

Thank you so very much! This has been driving me nuts for months. I've always rejected the Ask.com toolbar, and thought i'd gotten rid of it the one time it popped onto my browser. It was in the Extensions list, and i uninstalled it. YES -- Ctrl-T works again! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
