when i "save image as" it takes a LONG time regardless of the image being small or large in size

Whenever I save image as in Firefox 5, it takes a very long time to actually show up in the download status, and too long to save, during which I cannot do anything else with another tab, I must just sit and wait, even for a small image to download. This did not happen in version 4, but started to occur immediately after upgrading to version 5. I have a quad-core with 8GB RAM and plenty of disk space, so it should not be like this....??
