I always leave tabs open and tabs grouped when I close firefox because I have it set to load where I left off. I had another firefox window open and an error occurred when closing. When i tried to open the main window again, the only thing that "restored" was the separate tab, all the other IMPORTANT tabs and grouped tabs were gone!!! Is there any way to get them back?

App (pinned) tabs and Tab Groups (Panorama) are stored as part of the session data [1] in the file sessionstore.js [2] in the Firefox profile folder [3].

Make sure that you do not use "Clear Recent History" to clear the "Browsing History" when Firefox is closed because that prevails and prevents Firefox from opening tabs from the previous session.

It is also possible to use the "Show my windows and tabs from last time" setting, that is usually a more reliable way to restore session data.

If you use CCLEANER or something similar, tell it NOT to clear your Firefox SESSION. That cleared this ghastly tab thing up for me right away.

I understand that the expected behavior is that the most recent tab set will always replace a prior tab set. However, I do not think this behavior is ideal. I believe that many of the people experiencing this problem are really expecting Firefox to provide session support and the current implementation does not offer sufficient control.

Why not simply provide an explicit "Save Session" button that saves all tabs and tab groups exactly as they are until the next time the user presses the "Save Session"? That way we always know what is being saved and the occasional "session" resulting from clicking on an errant e-mail link doesn't throw a wrench into the works.

I like pinned tabs a lot. If a new browser window gets obened while my window with my pinned tabs is still open then 'gets buried' under other windows, and later I close my pinned tabs window first, then close the other opend window - the session without the pinned tabs is saved. We need an "add-on" where we can store and retrieve our pinned tabs when they 'get lost.'
