My bookmarks have gone. I noticed that the bookmarks inside a folder on the toolbar had changed. so I restarted FF and now all bookmarks are gone. I've tried restoring them but I get an error message: 'Unable to process the back up file' . I've recently installed Firefox 8.

I had this problem until I un-installed and re-installed FF8. You might find the bookmark file in the harddrive as a JSON file, do not ask me why though.

My brother is a software analyst and said this lastest version of FF is crap. I'm beginning to agree as I still have many issues.

I tried reinstalling FF8, but I still get the same error message. Grrrrr I've copied the bookmark file. I'll try to open it up on my work pc & export it as html, then import it & see what happens. So annoying.

Cor-el, this is all very well listing all this stuff but to most normal people it is just gobbledegook. If this software was well written and debugged there would not be so many users on here complaining about problems. FF8 is far from user friendly! I've now gone to another browser until Mozilla can get their act together and sort these problems. Why isn't this new browser just a straight download with no faffing about? Other providers can do it, why not Mozilla?
