what do I do when my silverlight plug quits responding
When I am on a website like facebook or netflix I get a message stating that the silverlight plug in has quit responding do I want to close it or continue. It has stopped responding when I am playing in a facebook game called farmtown and it has also quit when I am using netflix and watching videos. Is this plug in important and do I have to have it?

If you want to access Silverlight media, you need that plugin. You could check to see if you have the most recent version here:
These references might help:
I have the most recent version of silverlight I uninstalled it and then reinstalled it to make sure. The trouble I am having still exists I am still getting the same message telling me that the silverlight plug in is either busy or not responding do I want to wait or cancel. When I click either wait or cancel mozilla freezes up and quits responding. I know I have to have the plugin but it is not doing what it is supposed to be doing.
Another thing you might try is bypassing the plugin container. I had to do that with Real Media. Go into the about:config list and add a setting to bypass Silverlight using this format:
dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.i386.[silverlight plugin filename].dll - set to false
I am not sure what the name of the silverlight plugin is for Windows, since I use Mac OS. It might be as simple as "npsilverlight.dll".
That would be: dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.npctrl.dll
how do I do this I use windows xp and mozilla firefox as my browser. That is where the plugin is messing up.
Add the setting in the about:config window.
