I installed the security update and am now running 27.0.1 but can't use personas - why not?

After installing the security update, I am now running 27.0.1. It has disabled all of my personas and I can't seem to change the appearance of my browser with any of the Firefox personas available through the website. What do I need to do to make personas work again?

Are you using Private Browsing?

Well, I was using private browsing (didn't even realize that) but when I changed it to "Do not tell sites about my tracking preferences" Firefox still will not allow me to apply personas to my web browser. Aaargh! What am I doing wrong?

Previewing a lightweight theme (Persona) only works on sites that are white-listed via an allow exception, so make sure to have an allow exception for the addons.mozilla.org domain.

You can see the permissions for the domain in the current tab in:

  • Tools > Page Info > Permissions > [X] Install Extensions or Themes
  • Tools > Options > Security : "Warn me when sites try to install add-ons": Exceptions

Make sure that you do not use Clear (Recent) History to clear the "Site Preferences".

I tried re-starting Firefox in the safe mode and that did not solve the problem. I also tried changing the permissions but that did not solve the problem either. When I rest my cursor over a particular persona, it will change the appearance but there is no option to apply it and so when I move the cursor back off of the persona my browser changes back to the baby blue default(?) color. Is there something else I should try?
