I am useing an ssd as C:/ to minimise read writes how do I move the browser cache from C:/
This worked in 28 but not 29 why. "Set Firefox to not use C:/ for temp’ files. In the Address bar enter “about:config”; Enter; right-click within the settings and select New String Value; enter browser.cache.disk.parent_directory for the name, and (D:/) for the Value. Next time Firfox starts it will use (D:/) for the Temp’ files." To stop writes to C: I have altered "browser.cache.disk.enable" to false.

You can use the Profile Manager to create a new profile and use the Choose Folder button to specify a location on the D drive. Make sure to specify a new and empty folder because Firefox will use the specified location and doesn't create a new folder in it.

Sorry, I'm not sure is that preference is still working in Firefox 29. I relocate my entire Profile folder to the D: drive, so that the Cache and other files that would normally be in the ~\User\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles file path end up in the Profile folder on the D: drive.
The only way to change the temp location is to change the %TMP% and %TEMP% environment variables in the Windows System settings.
Note that some settings might not work in a folder at the root level (D:\) and you may have to create a sub folder and specify that folder (make sure that the specified folder exists) if you use browser.cache.disk.parent_directory
This pref should still be working.
You may have to delete the previously used cache location as found on the about:cache page with the browser.cache.disk.parent_directory not being used.
I like this idea but how do I relocate the profiles folder to D:/. Peter
