My bank insists I must have 64 bit Firefox and it wants me to download 32 bit firefox, but I can't figure out how to do that. It actually sounds like that Help!

My bank's security program is set up for 32 bit Firefox. My Firefox page doesn't even say which bit (32 or 64 ) it is, but the bank says that if there is no number near the Firefox exe name, it must be 64 bit and they want me to download 32 bit Firefox; this sounds like a downgrade, but I can't figure out how to do that anyway. (Or maybe even if I should). I have a very old (at least 10 years) Dell with Windows XP on it.

32 is the normal Firefox and should work in all systems.

On Windows XP, you should only run 32-bit Firefox.

There is no official 64-bit version of Firefox for Windows XP because the mainstream Windows XP release was a 32-bit operating system.

Is your bank's security program Trusteer Rapport? Some versions of that program cause Firefox to crash, but hopefully your bank offers a compatible version.

In your More System Details on right of your post. User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:42.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/42.0

This UA shows it is 32-bit Firefox on 32-bit Windows XP.

There is Win64 (64-bit) Firefox 42.0 however 64-bit Windows XP, Vista, and servers cannot run Win64 Firefox builds as you need 64-bit Windows 7, 8, 10 to use Win64 Firefox.

Firefox for Windows from www.mozilla.org and www.mozilla.org/firefox/all is currently still serving 32-bit Firefox for Windows only however Win64 may get listed on All page for Fx 43.0 Release. The Win64 Fx 42.0 is available at here however it will not work on your 32-bit WinXP OS.

Firefox 42.0 Release was the first to have Win64 (64-bit) and not just 32-bit for Windows.

Besides 32-bit and 64-bit Firefox on Windows are same with security so I wonder if this is your Bank's way of insisting you use a newer OS like say 64-bit Windows 7 or newer.
