I have had Thunderbird for years now, but most recently, I think when I tried to update to Windows 10, I have had to re-install Mozilla Thunderbird, and it is incredibly slow. I can't type or select an e-mail without literally having to wait 15 seconds or so

Using defender? create an exception for the Thunderbird process in it.
