When I receive a new email and I do not have their email in my address book how do I add to my contact list?

Firefox doesn't do email, it's strictly a web browser. Thus that "contact list" isn't saved in Firefox.
If you are using Firefox to access your mail, you are using "web-mail". You need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.
