I unloaded current thunerbird and old program is there. I downloaded earlybird and they put an icon on my pc and still the old program. My wife has a different version of thunderbird which looks current but a different account

I have an file of thunderbird on my half of the PC and my wife (different acct. # has the latest file on side. My file has when you want to write a letter you have go another page to get get to write. I've tried download the latest program of thunderbird without success and download earybird without success. I thought about deleting the file I now have bu there is a lot info that I need in Sub-folders.

Thunderbird's default setup has compose on a windows all of it's own. The Conversations add-on https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/gmail-conversation-view/?src=ss creates gmail like conversation views and allows replies in the conversation view. Perhaps that is what you are talking about.
