I have Thunderbird installed on my computer but would like to operate two separate accounts. I want to continue using it for my own personal use but also want to be able to continue to monitor my elderly mother's email (which she can also access via her tablet) without her being able to access my personal emails. Is this possible?

Yes, just add your mother's account to your Thunderbird. I suggest you set it up to use IMAP.
