Most all bookmarks have disappeared. Have to system restore to get them back. Then Mozilla updates again and they're gone again. Quantum Firefox stinks.

Nearly all bookmarks disappeared after Quantum update. Those that remained were incredibly disorganized. System restored twice to get them back. Automatic update again deleted them and a page capture device in my toolbar. Your Quantum is crap as this problem seems widespread with this update. I will system restore again and try to block automatic updates. If this doesn't stop the flaw in Quantum from altering my bookmarks, I will switch to another browser.

Turning off automatic updates can be done in Tools->Options->Advanced->Update Or go to about:config and search for app.update.auto and turn it off.

Indeed, Quantum is not for everyone (for instance, if you use extensions a lot), but you can always resort to Firefox ESR, which is supported until May 2018.

Do you have a places.sqlite.corrupt file and possibly other *.corrupt files in the profile folder?

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
