The connection has timed out errors on certain sites
This problem is very random. I can be on a site and suddenly get the time out error when navigating to a new page on the site. One particular site that I have used in the past will never open now. It is https://pixhost.to/
That site worked for me only 4 days ago. Now I cannot open it. I get the following error message on FF -
"The connection has timed out
The server at pixhost.to is taking too long to respond.
The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments. If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network connection. If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web."
I am using Win10 Version 1803 x64 - using Firefox 61.0.1 64 bit
Here is a partial list of the fixes I have tried to use either on my own or with remote assistance with MS tech people -
Checked on "Is It Down" website to make sure the site was up and reachable Completely cleared all cache, history, coolies, etc. Called my DSL provider to reset and test my modem. Unplugged my modem and restarted it manually Complete reinstall of Win 10 - TWICE Turned off virus and firewall protection Opened new InPrivate session Done a network reset Added sites to exceptions rules in browsers and firewalls. Reset browsers Ran and completed MS tools for updates, drivers and system Ran in safe mode Uninstall and reinstall network drivers - tried old drivers and new Changed DNS settings from the default setting of "obtaining DNS server address automatically" to a set DNS address of "8.8.8.8" and "8.8.4.4" Used command line as admin to do a ipconfig dns flush ipconfig /registerdns ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew NETSH winsock reset catalog NETSH int ipv4 reset reset.log NETSH int ipv6 reset reset.log
Tried to ping several websites that were unreachable and immediately got “request timed out” as the result Same sites do not open on Chrome, Edge, Explorer and Firefox Ran Malwarebytes and a few other tools to clean registries and check for issues Started a “Test” user on my computer to start a clean run and navigate as a new user Rolled back the latest updates made to Win10 – a MS tech did that
Well that is the main things that have been attempted to fix this issue and none have worked. I probably forgot a few things that were tried.
Can someone please help? This is very frustrating and time consuming. I would love to browse like normal again.

HI what security software are you using on your System and what Extension security software are you using ?
There is security software like Avast/AVG, Kaspersky, BitDefender, ESET and sometime Mcafee that intercept secure connections and send their own certificate or generally block things.
Try Firefox Safe Mode to TEST & see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).
If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:
- Click the menu button , click Help and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.
If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
- On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
- On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
- On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".
If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.
To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

The only security I am running after reinstalling Win 10 is the built in Windows Security and I turned all of it off. I started FF in safe mode and I still get the error message.
