I've just installed Thunderbird 68 onto Win10 PC. I have chosen to get an alert via a symbol on the taskbar which has always been an option. In the days I've used the new PC with my email client open, I've never seen an alert. All else seems to be working okay.

In W10 Settings, Personalization, Taskbar, Select which icons appear on the taskbar, set TB to On.

Another option is Windows Taskbar Unread Badge.

That worked so thank you. The only thing I regret is that it's not the solid white envelop of old. It's a transparent outline not seen anyone. Well, I guess we can't have everything.

The transparent tray icon is widely disliked, but it has changed a few times in the last year, so it may change again by the time the next TB is released this year.
