I have just updated to TB 78 on my Mac (running Catalina 10.15.7). I used to have quite a number of filters for each of my four IMAP email accounts. These have all vanished and I only have a SpamAssassin filter in each account.

How do I get the filters back?

Filters are stored in msgFilterRules.dat files, in each account subfolder of Mail or ImapMail in the profile, e.g. Mail/pop.gmail.com. The dat files can be copied from profile backups into the current profile, and copied between accounts.

On further digging, I think the update might not be the issue. I have had a problem with my profile and was trying to retrieve it from a backup and I think I have lost the rules that way.

How do I recover the various sets of rules from backups of Thunderbird?

Thanks for that. That’s very helpful. I didn’t realise that I could copy filters across accounts. That will make life easier (but I’m sure there will be a few gotchas).
