Junk Filter
How do I turn off the junk filter? I keep getting NonJunk in my Junk folder, and Junk in my Inbox.

Options. Search for junk. Tun it off.
To be clear most of the issue I have seen of late are on IMAP accounts and involve the providers "junk/spam" filtering. Yahoo for instance makes no option available to not use theirs and they use their own definitions of what is junk. If it appears in the junk folder without the junk flame icon then it is not being put there by Thunderbird.
Thanks for the reply. I've turned off the junk filter. I also turned off the option for each of my accounts.
If it's the ISPs, then there should be a way to stop Thunderbird from moving the ISP marked 'junk' into the junk folder.
Can I just delete the junk folders?

Not necessarily so. Folder contents are synchronized in IMAP accounts so no setting you can make in Thunderbird will stop your provider placing mail where ever they like. Same goes for your internet security suite if you have one. Thunderbird does not exist in splendid isolation with IMAP it is impacted and must follow a lot for external rules by virtue of the synchronization that is the heart of IMAP.
Thunderbird identifies messages as Junk which have not been identified as Junk by AOL. I think that I have NEVER found an actual Junk Message in Thunderbird's Junk folder. Checking the Thunderbird Junk Folders on each of my accounts each day is quite an irritating waste of time. Thunderbird was much more useful before this abominable feature was added. I wish that Thunderbird's Junk Filtering System could be eliminated entirely, or easily turned off completely. I'll start donating again once that abomination is squashed.
I found the answer when using Outlook (also effects Hotmail).
My friends email address was constantly causing it to be put in the Junk folder, and despite marking as not-junk in thunderbird it had no effect. This was done repeatedly as in the spam email guide from Firefox.
The solution was to add my friends email address to my contacts in Outlook. Then Outlook was not rejecting the email and it appeared in the Inbox as normal! Problem Solved.
Why do I not have a Spam folder, nor a Junk folder? I do have a Trash folder, and my ISP puts in a Graymail folder.
Your missing the point, I don't want valid messages going into my junk folder at all. I already use the message filters to delete spam. Having another folder to police, no thanks.
