Using Thunderbird 102.4.2 under Linux Mint 20, Cinnamon 4.6.7

I am replying to a long email, and wish to insert my comments at various points in the reply. If I select a color and font size for the first insertion, Thunderbird reverts to its own idea of color and font size when I begin the next insertion as part of my reply. Is there a way to change the default so that I don't have to edit each of my insertions individually?

Thank you for your help. My stumbling block was the check box labeled "Use reader's default colors". Who, in this case, is the 'reader'?

Well, now it works for me even though I don't understand the UI wording!

Setting HTML for a brief period is not a feature. You would need to set the desired font and color as default and reset it afterwards.

I don't want to set HTML for brief period. I want to know how to set the font color and size as the default (so that Thunderbird doesn't change it back again)

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but I'll try to assist. If you want a specific font and color for all composition, that can be readily done, but that doesn't seem to be what you were requesting in original post. If you write HTML all the time, and if you want recipients to read your content in your chosen font instead of theirs, just pick any font in settings>composition except Variable-Width, pick your color and untick 'use reader default color.'

On your original concern, having your content stand out within a response, the default quote settings may suffice for that.

The reader default color is the color set in settings>general .
