How can I configure thunderbird smtp server so that it only sends my first name with the mail, so that it shows that as a sender of the mail ?

That is set in the account settings pane under 'Default Identity.'
As it is...When I put my name in the box at "default identity" it does not get into the emails that I send. This is an obvious answer, but I have been looking for a trick that will solve this.
How do you know that, as the sender? Send me an email to davidthunderbird at gmx dot com
